Dr. Shalini Dhyani is Principal Scientist with the CSIR National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI), INDIA. With over two decades of interdisciplinary research, she integrates scientific and traditional knowledge for socio-ecological resilience. Her expertise spans sustainability science, ecosystem health, restoration ecology, nature-based solutions, and biodiversity mainstreaming in policy and decision-making. Recognized globally, she has received multiple awards, including from IUCN, UNESCO-TWAS, and NIDM Govt of India. A coordinating lead author as well as lead author with IPBES, IUFRO, and ICIMOD, she contributes to several international committees and editorial boards and is a noted public communicator promoting ecosystem-based sustainability and resilience in the Global South. She also got the opportunity to speak in UNGA during the midterm review of the Sendai Framework, 2023, 2024, and 2025. She has more than 100 research papers to her credit, and she is on the editorial board of some of the high-impact prestigious journals and is editor for six books. In addition to academic writing, she is deeply interested in writing popular science articles for communicating science to the masses. She is a well-known public speaker at various national and international platforms, and many of those are available in the public domain.
