
Dr. Kishalay Mitra is a Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering and an associated faculty member in the Departments of Artificial Intelligence and Climate Change at IIT Hyderabad, India. He holds degrees in Chemical Engineering from NIT Durgapur (B.E.), IIT Kanpur (M. Tech), and IIT Bombay (PhD). Before joining academia, he spent nearly 15 years in engineering leadership roles at GE Global Research and Tata Research Development & Design Centre. His research focuses on integrating data analytics and process optimization, encompassing machine learning, evolutionary algorithms, and optimization under uncertainty, with applications in energy, environment, and process industries. He has authored over 200 publications and received multiple national and international recognitions, including the Faculty Research Excellence Award and listing among the World’s Top 2% Scientists (Stanford University). His group collaborates globally with institutions such as UT Austin, University of Exeter, Deakin University, and NUS.
